Welcome to Chasety! I’m the owner and founder Chase Curtis, a 30-year-old food enthusiast, husband, and proud father of three beautiful children). My culinary journey has been an exciting adventure, shaped by interesting experiences and a deep-rooted passion for food.

Early Life & Inspirations

I was born in Fairfax, Virginia, and moved to Texas when I was just 5 years old. Growing up in McKinney, Texas, I was immersed in the rich traditions of the South. My parents were both avid cooks and self-proclaimed crockpot specialists (they had to be to fit their busy work schedules). I vividly remember Mom’s meatloaf, Dad’s chili, and so many other warm, hearty dishes. My love for their food inspired me and laid the foundation for my own culinary journey.

In addition to my budding interest in cooking, I was also deeply involved in photography during my teenage school years. I built strong relationships with my teachers, who entrusted me to take home their expensive cameras for shooting. This passion for photography honed my attention to detail and creativity, traits that would later enhance my culinary presentation.

Starting in the Food Industry

At 15, I began working at On The Border in McKinney. Initially, I started as a To-Go worker, but over time, I transitioned into a server and bartender role. My relationship with the managing staff grew, and I found myself showing up early on my days off to prep, manage, and stage inventory. Being in back of house this much eventually got me acquainted with the kitchen staff and allowed me to step even further beyond my job duties, making tortillas, guacamole, salsa, and more. This hands-on experience deepened my appreciation for creation and ignited a passion that would drive my future endeavors.

Culinary Growth in Wisconsin

At 20, I moved to Oshkosh, Wisconsin, where I joined the team at the Riverside Hotel, a premier riverside establishment. One of my friends, a chef who does private work in Alaska, became a mentor, teaching me the science and art of creating truly good food. From proper knife techniques to flavor science, the knowledge I gained during these years was invaluable. Soon enough, I found myself with solid back-of-house relationships once again – helping cater large company events, assisting with the weekly specials, and even expanding my schedule into the 4AM early-bird staff.

Returning to Texas

At mid-age 22, I returned to Texas, bringing with me a wealth of experience and a burning passion for a healthy life. To fund my first website, a health venture, I took on a part-time job as an auto-photographer. This role allowed me to combine my love for photography with my entrepreneurial spirit, providing the resources needed to launch my platform focused on personal fitness and nutritious eating. It was during this time that I met my wife, whose family from the United Kingdom introduced me to a variety of new foods and flavors, further expanding my culinary horizons.

Family Life & Adventures

At 24, I found the love of my life, and together we set off on a journey that took us from Houston, Texas, to Vero Beach, Florida, and finally back to Plano, Texas. Along the way, our family grew, and so did my love for cooking. Each move brought new experiences and opportunities to learn and grow.

In Houston, my wife and I explored food trucks, breweries, and pop-up locations offering indulgent comfort foods. Our time in Vero Beach introduced us to fresh seafood and coastal flavors, enriching our culinary repertoire. Finally, settling in Plano, Texas, provided the perfect backdrop to combine my skills with a desire to create memorable meals for my family and community.

Cooking with Family

Cooking has become a family affair in our household. My oldest loves to help with measuring, opening, breaking, and placing ingredients. My second son enjoys smearing ingredients on anything white, and my baby sleeps soundly [sometimes], allowing me to get meals made. These moments in the kitchen are cherished and have strengthened our bond as a family.
